The first vehicle to wear the Magma badge is expected to be the 2024 Genesis GV60 electric car. The GV60 Magma is likely to receive significant upgrades over the standard model, including a more powerful electric motor, upgraded suspension, and a track-focused driving mode.

The standard GV60 is already an impressive performer, with up to 325 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque. The Magma version is expected to offer even more power and performance, making it one of the quickest electric vehicles on the market.

In addition to its enhanced performance, the GV60 Magma is also expected to receive unique design elements that will set it apart from the standard model. These could include a more aggressive front fascia, larger wheels, and a rear diffuser.

Another model that could join the Magma lineup is the Genesis G80 Sport. The G80 Sport is already a high-performance sedan, with a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque.

The G80 Sport Magma could receive even more power, as well as upgraded suspension components and a track-focused driving mode. This would make it one of the most capable performance sedans on the market.

The launch of the Magma sub-brand is part of Genesis' broader expansion plans, which include the introduction of new models and the expansion of its global presence. The company is also investing heavily in its electric vehicle lineup, with the goal of becoming a fully electric brand by 2030.

“The creation of the Magma sub-brand is a testament to the growing strength of Genesis as a true global luxury brand,” said Jaehoon Chang, Global Head of Genesis. “We are committed to delivering the most exhilarating driving experiences possible to our customers, and the Magma sub-brand will be a key part of that journey.”

Genesis Magma vs. Mercedes-AMG

The Genesis Magma sub-brand is likely to target the same market as Mercedes-AMG. AMG is Mercedes-Benz's high-performance division, and its vehicles are known for their exceptional power, handling, and style.

The Genesis Magma sub-brand will offer a unique alternative to AMG, with a focus on delivering a thrilling driving experience at a more affordable price. The GV60 Magma, for example, is expected to start at around $50,000, while the G80 Sport Magma could start at around $60,000.

The launch of the Genesis Magma sub-brand is a significant development for the luxury automotive market. The new sub-brand will offer a unique blend of performance, style, and affordability, and it is likely to attract a wide range of enthusiasts.

The 2024 Genesis GV60 Magma is expected to be the first vehicle to wear the Magma badge, and it will be a major milestone for Genesis in its quest to become a global leader in the luxury automotive market.
